  • 1.5 lb flour
  • 1.5 teaspoon salt
  • 2 oz butter
  • 1 tablespoon carraway seeds
  • 1/2 pint milk
  • 3/4 pint water


  1. Pour the flour and salt into a mixing bowl and rub in the butter

  2. Add the carraway seeds

  3. Mix the milk and water together, then pour into the mixture. Form a light, soft dough.

  4. Place the dough into a greased bread tin.

  5. Bake in the middle of the oven for 75 minutes at Gas Mark 4.
