Chocolate Cake with Ganache Frosting

  • 2 cups White Sugar
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tspn baking soda
  • 1 tspn salt
  • 1/2 cup unweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tbpsn distilled white vinegar
  • 1 tspn vanilla extract
  • 8 oz chocolate chips
  • 8 oz heavy cream
  • 1 tbpsn unsalted butter


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C)

  2. In a large bowl, mix sugar, flour, baking soda, salt and cocoa

  3. Add water, vegetable oil, vinegar, and vanilla. Beat by hand until smooth

  4. Pour into a 9x13 inch pan, Bake for 40 minutes or until toothpick inserted into a center of cake comes out clean.

  5. The ganache consists of an heavy cream. chocolate chips, unsalted butter. Bring the mixture to a simmer, pour over chocolate and butter, stir until blended. Let it cool to room temp and then cover the cake
