  • 1.5 lb self-raising flour
  • 1/2 tspn salt
  • 3 oz butter
  • 7 oz dates
  • 1/3 pint milk
  • 1/4 pint water


  1. Begin by stoning the dates, then cut them into small pieces.

  2. Pour the flour and salt into a mixing bowl and rub in the butter

  3. Add the dates

  4. Mix the water and milk together

  5. Add the milk/water mix to the mixture and make into a soft dough

  6. Place the dough in a greased breased tin

  7. Bake in the center of the oven for approximately 1 1/4 hour. Gas Mark 4
