Fig Bread

Servings 1 loaf

Ingredients

  • 1 lb self-raising flour
  • 1/2 tspn salt
  • 1 tspn sugar
  • 1 oz butter
  • 5 oz fig
  • 1/2 pint water

Instructions

  1. Pour the flour and salt into a mixing bowl and rub in the butter

  2. Cook the figs in a steamer for approximately 10-15 minutes

  3. Remove the stalks and cut the figs into small pieces

  4. Pour the flour and salt into a mixing bowl and rub in the butter. Mix in the sugar, figs and water to form a light dough

  5. Place the dough in a greased bread tin

  6. Bake in the center of the oven for approximately 1 hour. Gas Mark 4
