Salmon Jalfrezi

  • 1 kg Salmon
  • 1 red pepper
  • 1 green pepper
  • 1 red onion
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 3 tsp cumin
  • 3 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tbsp tomato puree
  • 1 can chopped tomatoes
  • 10 tomatoes
  • 2 tsp Jalfrezi paste
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1 tbsp ginger
  • 2 lime
  • 2 tsp chilli powder , optional


  1. Prepare the Salmon into small-medium chunks.

  2. Chop the onion and peppers into medium chunks

  3. Take a couple of the chunks of onion and finely dice them

  4. Juice the limes

  5. Chop the tomatoes into small chunks

  6. Put a deep sided pan onto a medium heat. Add some oil to the pan and start cooking the onions and garlic for a few minutes.

  7. Mix the salt, pepper and turmeric together in a small bowl. Then take the Salmon and coat it in the mix. Once evenly coated add the Salmon to the pan and fry for 10-15 minutes, until golden.

  8. Add the tomato chunks, chopped tomatoes, Jalfrezi paste, peppers, ginger, lime juice, turmeric to the pan, taking care to stir.

  9. Turn down the heat to a simmer, pop on a lid and leave to cook for 25-30 minutes.

  10. Check the mixture occasionally and add a tsbp of water if required.

  11. Serve with rice.
