Wartime Chocolate Pudding

  • 2 cups Flour
  • 1 cup carrots grated
  • 1 oz sugar
  • 2 tablespoons golden syrup
  • 1 teaspoons bicarbonate of soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa heaped
  • 1/4 pint milk
  • 2 ozs margarine
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Essence


  1. Cream the margerine and sugar together, and stir in the grated carrot, syrup, fruit and the rest of the dry ingrediants.

  2. Add milk to the mix to a fairly stiff consistancy.

  3. Put the mixture into a greaded basin and steam for two hours.
