A nice simple recipe for shortcrust pasty
- 500 g brown flour
- 120 g lard
- 125 g butter
- 1 tsp salt
- 175 ml water cold
- 300 g steak
- 50 g onion
- 2 turnip
- 2 cloves garlic
Mix the flour, lard, butter, salt and water in a big bowl and mix until you get sticky dough
Chill the dough before rolling it out
Then roll out to 1/4" thick and cut into circles
For the filling chop the flank steak into small cubes and then added finely chopped onion, turnip,garlic. Mixed it up with salt, pepper
Fill the middle and fold over. You need to wet the edges with water so they stay together.
Press the edges with a fork and place on parchment lined baking sheet.
Then whisk an egg and brush all over the top and edges of the Pasties.
Place into a 400 degree oven for about 40 minutes
